How the TOMKET Sport 3 measured up against the Michelin Primacy 3 and the Kleber Dinaxer HP3 in an independent evaluation.

An independent test organisation put the TOMKET Sport 3 up against the Michelin Primacy 3 and the Kleber Dinaxer HP3, scoring braking, handling, safety and comfort. The Sport 3 finished second of the three, on 7.1 overall.

A subjective evaluation scored each tyre from 1 to 10 across five areas. The Sport 3 finished on 7.1 overall, behind the Michelin reference (8.0) and ahead of the Kleber (6.7).

What was evaluated

Straight line driving: Steering response, feel and effort at different speeds, with small, gentle steering inputs.
Steering performance: Trajectory tracing, off-centre response, precision, linearity, effort and front-rear grip balance through cornering.
Active safety: The car’s response through lane-change manoeuvres from low lateral acceleration up to the grip limit, including body roll, braking in a turn and power-off reaction.
Ride comfort: Acoustic comfort and vibration.
Wet handling: Front-rear balance, traction, rear-axle stability, power-off reaction and controllability at the limit in the wet.

The verdict

Michelin Primacy 3

A reference on wet and dry with a good comfort level. Very high feedback in a straight line with excellent modulation for small steering angles, good precision with almost no delay, and good roll and yaw damping.
TOMKET Sport 3

Good straight-line and steering performance with slight front and rear axle delays. Active safety is held back by less roll control and larger roll angles. On the wet it keeps a good level of grip, with enough front-axle response and rear-axle grip. Comfort is good, though a little too much shake reaches the cabin.
Kleber Dinaxer HP3

Did not score as high as the others, held back by a lack of wet grip that reduces confidence, and a low comfort score. It was clearly the noisiest set in the test.
